The Blue Banded Bee is a regular visitor to my garden. Flying around with their striped blue underpants they always bring a smile to my face. Fun Fact: Males have five stripes, females have four but good luck spotting that with these fast flying pollinators. Don’t let their high cuteness score trick you. These bad boys (and girls) are the headbangers of the bee world. They are among a handful of bees which perform buzz pollination. Essentially they rapidly bang their heads on a flowers anthers to release the pollen held deep within. Rock on!
