Butterflys always make me smile. Their wings are covered in overlapping scales and it is the colour, shape and pattern of these scales that give the butterfly it’s unique colour. They are natures art palette in minature. This piece was inspired by the many different patterns that fill the sky on butterfly wings. I decided not to colour it so that the patterns could take centre stage.
