Hanging Around: Bottlebrush Fine Art Print
Meet Callistemon Viminalis, commonly known as The Weeping Bottlebrush. It get’s its botanical nickname from the shape of its flowers which look like….well….. bottle brushes. Their flowers cover the trees in late Spring and are a magnet for bees and birds alike. I have a lot of the Little Johns (The dwarf version of the Callistemon Viminalis) and when they flower Scarlet Honeyeaters come down from their usual feeding sites high in the canopy to feed on the sweet nectar. It’s not all easy pickings for them though as they have to fight off our resident Wattle Bird who frankly, thinks he rules the roost!
