Meet the bottlebrush…genus Callistemon. Callistemon comes from the Greek words ‘Kalli’ meaning beautiful and ‘stemon’ meaning stamen which is in reference to the bright, red filaments (stamens) that together form the distinctive bottlebrush shape. They are an enduring favourite of mine and there is no shortage of them in our garden.
